Simply Music Piano

It teaches piano through easily recognizable patterns called musical sentences, which serve as the foundation for creating songs and pieces. Students explore various genres, including pop, classical, and blues. As they practice these pieces at home, their playing becomes more confident, and muscle memory naturally develops in their hands.

Unlike traditional methods, where students must first learn to read music before they can play, Simply Music focuses on teaching kids to play the piano first. Sheet music reading is introduced later, only when the student is developmentally ready. This approach makes learning the piano both fun and motivating, gradually introducing music reading at a pace that aligns with each student’s progress.

Simply Music students are capable of playing both with sheet music and without it. The program places a strong emphasis on composition and improvisation, allowing students to explore their creative potential. Here are a few key points I want to highlight:

  • Music Before Reading: Simply Music teaches children to play music first, before focusing on reading sheet music, making the learning process more engaging and intuitive.

  • Creative Freedom: Students are encouraged to compose and improvise, helping them develop their musical creativity and self-expression.

  • Confidence Building: The method fosters confidence by providing enjoyable and successful playing experiences, encouraging continued progress.

  • Variety of Genres: The program includes a wide range of music styles—pop, classical, blues—exposing students to different musical traditions and enhancing their versatility.

  • Gradual Introduction to Music Reading: Music reading is introduced only when the student is developmentally ready, ensuring that they can approach reading sheet music with ease and confidence.

  • Play Your Favorite Music: Simply Music empowers students to play the songs they love—whether it's a Western pop hit, a soulful Indian melody, or a tune from any genre worldwide.

Simply Music focuses on fostering a love for music while making learning both fun and rewarding! It’s an approach that helps students grow as musicians while keeping the experience enjoyable and inspiring. With a strong foundation in both sheet music and improvisation, they gain the skills and confidence to explore, create, and make music their own.

The traditional piano teaching method has remained largely unchanged for over 300 years. Isn’t it time for a more holistic, student-centered approach to music education?

What is Simply Music?

Simply Music is a groundbreaking, Australian-developed method that has students playing beautiful music right from their very first lessons. Created by Neil Moore, the Simply Music method was developed in the late 20th century while Moore was teaching piano to a young blind boy. Faced with the challenges of applying traditional methods of reading music, He discovered that this new approach was not only effective for his blind student but also opened the door for an amazing musical journey for students of all ages..

The Simply Music method enables students to play a wide variety of musical styles—including contemporary, classical, ballads, and blues—from the very beginning. It offers a personalized, fully-curated learning experience tailored to meet each student's unique needs, strengths, and challenges. The focus is on playing music and developing creativity, making the learning process engaging and fulfilling from the start.

Note from Neha about her experience with Simply music -

Imagine being asked to read and write a language before you even know how to speak or understand it. It’s incredibly challenging to comprehend a language without first learning how to "speak" it, and music is much the same. Developing a basic understanding and a love for music is crucial. I’ve observed that many students who follow traditional methods often struggle, leading to a loss of interest in continuing their musical journey. Statistics show that 86% of students ultimately quit piano lessons. Many students who spent years learning through traditional methods have later returned to study with me using the Simply Music approach. In fact it's more appreciated by them.
